What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, as it is written:
“None is righteous, no, not one;
no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good, not even one.”
“Their throat is an open grave;
they use their tongues to deceive.”
“The venom of asps is under their lips.”
“Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.”
“Their feet are swift to shed blood;
in their paths are ruin and misery,
and the way of peace they have not known.”
“There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
No one is exempt from sin. No amount of religion, moral effort, or good behavior can make us righteous before You. It is only by Your mercy and forgiveness that I can stand in Your holy presence. Lord, I pray that You stir the Holy Spirit within me so my heart is not spiritually blind or self-centered, but truly understands You, seeks You, and turns to You in both good and difficult days.
Lord, I pray that You purify my speech so that my words reflect only Your grace and truth. Let my lips never utter venom, curses, or bitterness, but instead overflow with compassion, encouragement, and love. Guard my throat from deceit and my mouth from unrighteousness. May every word that leaves my mouth glorify You, bringing peace to those who hear it.
Father, please keep my feet firm in righteousness. Let my path be filled with Your light, and my soul be anchored in the peace that comes only from You. Teach me to walk in reverence — to never take Your grace for granted, knowing that sin carries consequences and You are a just and holy God.
Lord, I understand that nothing else can save — not my deeds, not my rituals, not my strength — except Your grace and mercy. The law shows me my inability to save myself, but it also points me to the cross, where Your grace becomes my only hope. May I live in awe of that truth every day: Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
