and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.”
This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.
For this is what the promise said: “About this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”
And not only so, but also when Rebekah had conceived children by one man, our forefather Isaac,
though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—
she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”
As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

Heavenly Father,
As Apostle Paul quotes the Scripture, he shows how Isaac was chosen and not Ishmael, how Jacob was selected and not Esau. Through these examples, You reveal that Your choices do not follow human assumptions or patterns. Even today, our spiritual belonging is not determined by the families or traditions we come from. What truly matters is that You are a universal God—You embrace all people—and You choose according to Your own perfect will.
Lord, I pray that You grant me the wisdom to understand that everything flows from You. Behind every action, every turn, every moment—whether it feels clear or confusing, orderly or haphazard—You are present with a purpose. Nothing in this world is without meaning; You alone know the purpose, and You alone carry forward the will that fulfills Your plans. So, Heavenly Father, help me remain humble. Let me never think that I belong to You because of anything about my background or because of any deeds I have done. Remind me gently that I am Your child only because You blessed, You chose, and You decided—simply because it was Your will. Let my heart understand this deeply and rest in humility before You.
