Then he returned from the region of Tyre and went through Sidon to the Sea of Galilee, in the region of the Decapolis. And they brought to him a man who was deaf and had a speech impediment, and they begged him to lay his hand on him. And taking him aside from the crowd privately, he put his fingers into his ears, and after spitting touched his tongue. And looking up to heaven, he sighed and said to him, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened.” And his ears were opened, his tongue was released, and he spoke plainly. And Jesus charged them to tell no one. But the more he charged them, the more zealously they proclaimed it. And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Heavenly Father,
“He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” What a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ, through whom You reveal Your healing power and compassion. You are the God who opens what is closed, restores what is broken, and releases what has been bound for so long.
I pray to You, Lord, that You open my ears to hear You clearly—not just the sound of Your Word, but the depth of Your voice, the whisper of Your guidance, and the truth of Your correction. Remove every blockage that keeps me from hearing You fully—whether it is distraction, fear, pride, or unbelief.
I pray to You, Lord, that You loosen my tongue to speak what honors You. Free me from silence that comes from fear and from words that come from impatience. May my speech be gentle, truthful, encouraging, and obedient to Your will. Let my words bring life, comfort, and glory to You.
Just as Jesus took the man aside from the crowd, draw me into quiet places with You—away from noise, opinions, and expectations—where You personally shape and transform my heart.
Lord, You do all things well. Open my ears to hear, open my mouth to speak, and open my heart to obey.
