On the following day, when they came from Bethany, he was hungry. And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it.
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come before You aware that Your Word speaks deeper than what is seen on the surface. Lord Jesus, You were hungry—not just for food, but for hearts that bear fruit for God’s glory. I pray that You awaken in me a true hunger for righteousness, a longing to live a life that honors You and reflects Your presence on this earth.
Search my heart, Lord. Do not let me appear outwardly faithful yet be empty within —covered in leaves but lacking fruit. Where I have received Your love, Your truth, and Your calling, yet failed to live it out fully, forgive me.
Father, I confess that there are times I do not understand Your ways and resist Your work in me. Remove every place of quiet rejection, complacency, or self-deception. Teach me to receive You fully, so that my life may bear the fruit of Your Spirit in its proper time.
Lord Jesus, do not allow me to miss Your purpose for my life. Align my heart with Yours, that I may not merely look alive in faith, but truly live it—producing fruit that brings glory to God and life to others.
Let my faith be genuine, my obedience sincere, and my life pleasing in Your sight.
