This is the reason why I have so often been hindered from coming to you. But now, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come to you, I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain, and to be helped on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while.
At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem bringing aid to the saints. For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make some contribution for the poor among the saints at Jerusalem. For they were pleased to do it, and indeed they owe it to them. For if the Gentiles have come to share in their spiritual blessings, they ought also to be of service to them in material blessings.
When therefore I have completed this and have delivered to them what has been collected, I will leave for Spain by way of you. I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
It is beautiful to see the holy enthusiasm and forward-looking faith of the apostle Paul—his longing to go wherever You send him, whether to Rome or to Spain, with one singular focus: to carry the gospel to the ends of the earth.
I pray, Lord, that You would grant me that same hope and holy enthusiasm. Give me a heart that is willing to go to the places You appoint, whether near or far, seen or unseen. Bless me with a voice—whether in person or through virtual means—that boldly proclaims Your gospel, draws hearts closer to You, and helps establish Your kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
I pray also, Lord, that You would strengthen me to be bold in generosity. Give me both the courage to give freely and the humility and boldness to ask for generosity when it serves the advancement of Your gospel and the care of those in need. Just as Paul stewarded earthly resources to bless the saints in Jerusalem, teach me to participate joyfully in meeting needs and serving others on Your behalf. May everything I do be carried out in the fullness of the blessing of Christ, and may my life reflect obedience, faith, and love for Your purposes.
