I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit—
that I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart.
For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kinsmen according to the flesh.
They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises.
To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.
But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel.

Heavenly Father,
What Apostle Paul expresses here is not anger, but the cry of a deeply broken heart. Israel was uniquely cherished—marked as Your children, chosen, adopted, and set apart. They possessed Your glory, the history of Your mighty deliverance, the covenant relationship You initiated, the law You lovingly gave, the temple You blessed, the promises You spoke, and the ancestors through whom You worked wonders. And yet, even with such privilege, they often chose disobedience, rebellion, and self-indulgence.
Lord, I come before You recognizing that, in many ways, You have also given me so much—far more than I deserve. In light of Your grace, mercy, and blessings, I pray earnestly that no spirit of disobedience, rebellion, or self-indulgence would ever take root in me. Let me not sin in a way that grieves Your heart or resists the work You desire to accomplish in me. Let me not wander in a way that hinders the good purpose You have for my life. Heavenly Father, guide my path. Give me understanding, humility, and obedience. Shape my heart so that everything in me reflects faithfulness to Your love.
