Romans 2:5–11 God’s Righteous Judgment

Prayer Root Ministries -> Praying through Scripture -> Romans -> Romans 2

Scripture (ESV)

But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality.

Prayer Root: Word to Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Salvation is only through faith in Jesus Christ. It can never be earned but only received as a precious gift of Your grace. Yet, Lord, true faith bears fruit in good works—there can be no living faith without obedience, and no righteous deeds that are not born of faith. I pray that my faith shines through my actions, not for my glory but for Yours. Let my works testify to a heart transformed by Your Spirit and a life surrendered to Your will.

Keep my heart humble, O Lord, and free from self-seeking motives. Teach me to serve You with a pure conscience and a steadfast spirit. Keep my path straight so that I may always obey Your truth, and let my hands and thoughts be devoted to righteousness. May every step I take be aligned with Your Word, and may my soul find joy and peace in pursuing Your ways.

Father, You are a just and impartial God, and Your judgment is perfect and true. I pray that You prepare me to stand before You one day—cleansed, faithful, and steadfast in Christ. Let me live each day mindful of eternity, seeking glory, honor, and peace that come only from You.

Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
