Scripture (ESV)

And as he came out of the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and what wonderful buildings!” And Jesus said to him, “Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”

Prayer Root: Word to Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Like the disciples, my heart is often drawn to the shining and impressive things around me, forgetting how temporary they truly are. Empires rise and fall, lands are built and destroyed, wealth is gained and lost—but Your Word and Your glory alone remain forever.

I pray, Lord, that You help me to see this clearly. Teach me not to despise the things of this world, nor to make them my priority. Let me not marvel at them as if they were eternal, even though they are the work of Your hands. Remind me that they are not the greatest gift You have given.

Anchor my heart in what truly lasts—Your mercy, Your grace, and the eternal life You offer through Christ. Help me to live with eternal perspective, holding worldly things loosely while clinging firmly to You. May my hope rest not in what can be seen and shaken, but in You alone, who never fades and never fails.

Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
