Scripture (ESV)

And as he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign when all these things are about to be accomplished?” And Jesus began to say to them, “See that no one leads you astray. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and they will lead many astray. And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. This must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines. These are but the beginning of the birth pains.”

Prayer Root: Word to Prayer

Heavenly Father,

While the signs of the end age can feel terrifying, Jesus reminds us that they are birth pains—signals not of destruction alone, but of Your kingdom coming on earth as it is in heaven. You have shown us that this transition carries pain, yet it also carries promise.

I pray, Lord, teach me not to panic over what I cannot understand fully, what I cannot predict, and what I will never be able to solve on my own. Guard me from fear when the world feels unstable. Instead, fill my heart with hope, patient endurance, and expectant prayer for a future that is eternal, righteous, and peaceful in You.

I pray also, Lord, that my heart remains alert and discerning. Protect me from false claims—about Your coming or about those who falsely claim to be You. Let Your Spirit guard my heart and mind, anchoring me firmly in the truth of Your Word.

Teach me to live watchfully but not fearfully, alert but not anxious, grounded in Christ and confident in Your sovereign plan. May I endure these birth pains with steadfast faith, knowing that what You are bringing forth is glorious and everlasting.

Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
