Scripture (ESV)
John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. For the one who is not against us is for us. For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward.”
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
There is no spiritual monopoly when it comes to Jesus Christ. Power does not belong to people, circles, titles, or traditions—it belongs to Him alone.
I pray, Lord, that You keep me deeply humble as a follower of Jesus. I have no power or special status of my own. It is His Spirit and His authority at work, and it is not limited to one group or one way. Your kingdom is open to all who come in faith. Your hands are extended to everyone who knocks. Your love is available to all who seek You.
I pray, Lord, that You give me a heart that genuinely celebrates the good done by anyone who acts in the name of Christ. Remove from me any trace of jealousy, comparison, or division. Teach me to always find the common ground—Christ Himself—among all who follow Jesus in sincerity and truth.
I also pray, Lord, that You grant me wisdom to remember that faithfulness is not measured by the size of the deed. As Jesus taught, it may be as small as a mustard seed, as simple as offering a cup of water. What matters is the heart of service behind the act. You are the God who does not judge by outward appearance, but who knows my heart and weighs my intentions.
Keep my service pure, my joy generous, and my allegiance firmly rooted in Christ alone.
Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
