Scripture (ESV)

In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

Prayer Root: Word to Prayer

Heavenly Father,

How humble and simple when You walked to John — yet how gloriously magnificent was Your purpose on earth! In these few verses, the fullness of Your divine mission unfolds. John the Baptist revealed who You are: the Son of God — Your position established; the Lamb of God — Your purpose revealed; the One who takes away the sin of the world — Your mission accomplished; the Spirit descending and remaining on You — Your divine alignment shown; and the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit — Your eternal plan set in motion.

Lord, how marvelous are Your ways! You came not with grandeur but with grace, not in force but in faithfulness, and You fulfilled every promise written. I pray that I may remember this truth every day of my life — that my salvation, hope, and future rest in You alone.

Help me, Lord, to live according to the mercy and grace You have poured out upon me. Let my heart always recognize You as the Lamb who was slain for my redemption, the Son of God who reigns forever, and the Spirit-giver who renews me daily.

Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
