The Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. And he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted by Satan. And he was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to him.
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Heavenly Father,
It is deeply revealing to know that right after You declared from heaven, “You are My beloved Son; with You I am well pleased,” the Spirit led You into the wilderness. Like gold refined by fire and diamonds cut for clarity, You entered the wilderness—not to be perfected, for You were already perfect—but to declare to Satan that he holds no power over You. The wilderness was not Your place of weakness; it was the ground where Your divine authority stood unshaken.
There, for forty days, You faced temptation, yet Satan failed to sway You—even when he twisted Scripture itself. You showed that truth cannot be corrupted when it abides in the Living Word. And the verse that says You were “with the wild animals and the angels attended You” reveals the harmony of Your divine order—you stood between heaven and earth, the Creator among creation, watched by angels and surrounded by what You made.
When You came out of the wilderness, You proclaimed, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the gospel.” How powerful it is that You began Your ministry after enduring temptation, showing us that spiritual victory often precedes divine mission. You taught us that perseverance in trials leads to the manifestation of purpose, and prayer is the power that sustains us through it.
Lord, I pray that my heart may be part of Your kingdom. Let my life rest securely in Your hands. Help me to repent sincerely for every sin, and when I am tempted, remind me that You conquered temptation for my sake. Before I even think of sinning, let me remember the cross—the price You paid to free me. Help me to live each day according to Your gospel, to walk in obedience to Your commandments, and to find strength in prayer and perseverance, just as You did.
