Scripture (ESV)
They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him.
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
When Jesus said, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered,” it carried a depth far beyond betrayal alone. It reveals that the Messiah’s victory would not come by avoiding human evil, but by willingly absorbing it—taking upon Himself the full weight of sin, violence, misunderstanding, and hatred.
I pray, Lord, that I never forget this truth: that You, the Creator of all things, chose to send Your only Son as fully human—to be misunderstood, betrayed, insulted, mocked, and subjected to agonizing pain; to be lifted on a cross, shouted at, pierced with nails, and to die—for me. For me, a nobody whom You chose long before I was born. A nobody who lived a life marked by selfishness, sin, and arrogance. A nobody who has nothing to offer that could ever match such a sacrifice.
I pray, Lord, that this sacrifice—and the freedom to come boldly to God through it—the mercy of forgiveness and the grace of salvation—would become the anchor of my life. Let it light my path, cleanse my heart, shape my thoughts, guide my decisions, and steer my entire life.
May I never be afraid to ask anything of my Lord. Bless me with a heart that understands Your direction and Your will through the Spirit You have placed within me. Teach me not to fear what I do not yet understand, but to trust You fully, even when the way of the cross is hard and costly.
Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
