Again Jesus began to teach by the lake. The crowd that gathered around him was so large that he got into a boat and sat in it out on the lake, while all the people were along the shore at the water’s edge. He taught them many things by parables and in his teaching said: “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants, so that they did not bear grain. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up, grew and produced a crop, some multiplying thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times.”
Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I come before You in humility and surrender. I pray that my life may be like the seed that fell on good soil—rooted deeply in You, nourished by Your truth, and bearing lasting fruit. Let the fruit of the Spirit be evident in me, just as the seed produced grain in its season. Let my voice rise in praise to You, and may every word I speak glorify Your holy name, so that those who hear may be drawn by You, repent of their sins, receive the mercy You freely give, and rejoice in the grace You have poured out.
Lord, grant me persistence and faithfulness to share the good news of the gospel with everyone, without prejudice or hesitation—whether the seed seems to fall on the path, on rocky ground, or among thorns. I acknowledge that I do not know which hearts You have prepared. I am only an instrument in Your hands, obedient to Your will on this earth. Let those whom You have chosen hear exactly what they are meant to hear, and let Your power bring freedom, restoration, and transformation through Jesus Christ.
