He went out again beside the sea, and all the crowd was coming to him, and he was teaching them. And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.
And as he reclined at table in his house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?” And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Heavenly Father,
How great is Your heart of mercy—that You looked upon a tax collector like Levi and said, “Follow Me.” In a world that saw him as a betrayer, You saw a soul ready to be redeemed. You reached out not to the respected or the righteous, but to one rejected by all, proving that Your love is far greater than human judgment.
Lord, I pray that no matter the depth of my sins—those done knowingly or unknowingly—my heart may turn toward You like Levi’s did. Help me to rise, leave behind what binds me to the world, and follow You with complete surrender. Let my soul rejoice in Your calling, and let my life become a great feast of gratitude for Your mercy and grace.
Come into my house, Lord Jesus—into my heart, my home, and my every moment—so that I may celebrate Your presence with joy. You did not come to call the righteous, but sinners like me. Teach me to repent daily, to seek Your forgiveness, and to live in the freedom that comes from Your cross—a sacrifice so vast that it covers even the sins I do not yet see.
