And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate. And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” And the chief priests accused him of many things. And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.” But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed.
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Jesus has shown me that absolute truth does not need to defend itself against lies. Truth stands by its very nature and prevails in Your perfect time.
I pray, Lord, that You would form in me a character that does not attempt to bind or limit the Almighty, as the religious leaders did when they sought to control and silence the Divine. Keep my heart open to hear You fully. Remove every barrier of pride, fear, or self-judgment that could obscure Your truth in my life. Rule my heart completely, without resistance.
Lord, Your silence before accusation was not passivity or weakness, but the strength of willing surrender—obedience unto the cross for a greater redemptive purpose. Teach me the sacredness of silence: a silence that listens, discerns, and waits for Your command.
When I am misunderstood or unfairly accused, anchor my heart in trust of Your justice. Guard me from personal vengeance, frantic self-justification, or the need to prove myself. Let me rest in You, knowing that You are my defender, my vindicator, and my truth.
