Scripture (ESV)
“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.”
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
You have made it clear that the timing of Your coming is known only to You. I do not know the day or the hour, and You have not asked me to calculate or predict—but You have asked me to be ready.
Lord, help me to live alert and awake, not consumed by fear or speculation, but grounded in faithful obedience. Keep my heart from spiritual sleepiness, distraction, or complacency. Teach me to remain watchful in prayer, diligent in responsibility, and faithful in all You have entrusted to me.
Remind me that waiting does not mean idleness. While I wait, let me serve. While I stay awake, let me love. While I remain alert, let me walk in holiness and humility. May I live each day as one who expects Your return, not with anxiety, but with reverent hope.
When You come—whether suddenly or after a long wait—May You find me faithful, awake, and ready, fulfilling every task You have entrusted to me, for Your glory alone.
Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
