Scripture (ESV)

And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John. Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.

That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.

Prayer Root: Word to Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Be it inside the house of Simon’s to heal his mother-in-law, or among the many who gathered afterward—where the whole city stood at Your door—you healed many who came to You with compassion and mercy. The healing You gave to Simon’s mother-in-law and to the multitude that evening is the same healing You continue to offer today through Your Spirit to this broken and suffering world.

Lord, I thank You that Your heart still beats with compassion for those in pain—physically, mentally, and spiritually. Your touch restores, Your word revives, and Your presence renews the weary soul. Just as You entered that humble home and brought healing and strength, I invite You into my heart and my home. Lay Your healing hand upon every area of my life that is unwell, burdened, or weary.

Teach me, Lord, to reflect Your compassion in my own life—to look beyond myself and see the needs of others with eyes of mercy. Let my heart overflow with the same love that moved You to heal the sick and lift the broken.

Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
