What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone, as it is written, “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”

Heavenly Father,
Jesus came into this world for our salvation, yet by our response to Him we either receive life or bring judgment upon ourselves. I pray, Lord, that my heart would remain open and humble like the Gentiles—who did not know the law, yet when they encountered the overwhelming love of Jesus, they surrendered themselves fully in trust.
Build within me that same kind of faith, Father—a trust that does not assume You owe me salvation because of my efforts or goodness. Help me understand with clarity and wisdom that my imperfection could never satisfy Your perfect holiness. There is nothing I could ever do to repay what You have done for me through the cross.
Teach me, Lord, to stop striving to earn what can only be received. Let me never stumble over pride or self-righteousness, but cling instead to Christ alone. Help me to truly understand that salvation is not won by works, but received through faith—through complete trust in You.
