Romans 8:1–4 Life in the Spirit

Scripture (ESV)

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Prayer Root: Word to Prayer

Heavenly Father,

To live according to the flesh is to live a life dominated by the dictates and desires of sinful human nature instead of a life shaped by Your love, Your Spirit, and Your truth. I thank You, God, that there was a time when I was at the mercy of my own sinful nature—bound by rules, rituals, idolatry, and patterns of bondage that kept pulling me deeper into sin, defeat, and frustration.

But Lord, I thank You that You stepped into my life and filled me with the surging power of the Holy Spirit. Through Your Spirit, You lifted me out of that defeated way of living and brought me into a victorious, Spirit-led life.

I pray that I always remember this truth: just as disobedience entered humanity through Adam—a fully human man—perfect obedience was given to us through Jesus, the Son of God, who also came fully as a man. Through His perfect obedience, He liberated all who believe from the bondage of sin. Help me to remember daily that I am saved not by my efforts but by Jesus—His goodness, His righteousness, and His obedience. Remind me that my life is no longer dominated by the flesh or powered by sin, but is now governed by the Spirit of God. Let me walk every day in the freedom, strength, and grace that comes through my Lord Jesus Christ.

Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
