In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.” He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb. No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised. That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord, who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.

Heavenly Father,
Believing in what seems possible is easy, but true faith is believing even when every circumstance says it cannot be done. That is the kind of faith Abraham had—the faith that believed Your promise even when he and Sarah were far beyond the age of bearing children. At a hundred years old, when nature itself declared it impossible, he held on to Your word because he knew that You are the God who makes the impossible possible.
Lord, I pray that You help me to build such faith within me—a faith that remains steady when life looks uncertain, a faith that does not depend on what I see but on who You are. You are able to do far more abundantly than all I could ask or think. You are the God of limitless power and unfailing promises. Strengthen my spirit, Lord, to build an unwavering faith—faith that glorifies You even before the miracle happens, and faith that endures because it rests on Your unchanging Word.
