Scripture (ESV)
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God and know his will and approve what is excellent, because you are instructed from the law; and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of children, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— you then who teach others, do you not teach yourself? While you preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law. For, as it is written, ‘The name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.’
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Apostle Paul might have been addressing the Jews, but his words still echo in our lives today—warning us against the pride that creeps into our hearts when we boast of being followers of Jesus. Lord, I know that when I claim to walk in faith, my behavior becomes a reflection of You to others. My actions, words, and attitudes can either draw people to You or push them away. I pray that my life never causes others to stumble or to speak ill of Your name.
Lord, remind me daily that I am an ambassador of Christ, representing You in all I do. Let the standards I live by be modeled after Your Son—humble, faithful, compassionate, and pure. May my heart never boast of knowing You but instead abide quietly and deeply in Your will. Let my actions glorify You so that all who see or hear me may recognize You as the leader of the blind, the light in darkness, the teacher of the simple, and the embodiment of knowledge and truth.
I pray that You help me live a life that honors You, walking in obedience and love. Teach me to fulfill Your greatest commandments—to love You with all my heart and to love others as myself. May my life reflect Jesus so clearly that when people see me, they see You in me, praise You in me, and glorify You in me.
Rooted in prayer, rejoicing in Christ.
