But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I pray that You guide my path, my actions, and my life as I walk by the Spirit and not by the desires of the flesh. Guard me, Lord, from the works of the flesh — sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and all the other temptations that seek to pull me away from You in today’s world.
Lord, fill me with the fruit of the Spirit. Let my heart overflow with love — love for You and love for others — creating an atmosphere of kindness and compassion at home, at work, and with friends. Help me show joy not only in good times but also in hope and trust when circumstances go wrong. Grant me peace, irrespective of external situations, always resting in Your guidance and presence.
Lord, cultivate patience within me, even in the most difficult moments, and help me to wait with faith for Your timing. Let kindness flow from me, regardless of a person’s power, position, race, or gender. Teach me to do goodness for the benefit of others, and let my faithfulness reflect my obedience to You and my reliability toward others.
Grant me gentleness toward those who need it most, even when it is not outwardly apparent. Strengthen me with self-control over every desire and impulse that goes against Your will. Help me stand firm with You, remembering that I belong to Jesus Christ, who has crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Lord, help me to keep in step with the Spirit, walking daily in Your love, truth, and righteousness.
