And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. He charged them to take nothing for their journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belts—but to wear sandals and not put on two tunics. And he said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you depart from there. And if any place will not receive you and they will not listen to you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them.” So they went out and proclaimed that people should repent. And they cast out many demons and anointed with oil many who were sick and healed them.
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
I pray that You would use me just as You used the twelve—to go out and spread Your gospel with obedience and faith. May my words reach the corners of the earth, whether physically or virtually, carrying the good news of repentance, hope, and salvation to all who hear. Bless my words with Your authority, Lord, that hearts may be healed, lives transformed, and souls drawn closer to You.
Father, teach me to trust fully in Your provision. Just as You asked the twelve to carry nothing for their journey, help me to carry no unnecessary baggage in my life. Let me rely not on possessions, status, or earthly power, but on You alone—the God of provision and promises. I trust that You will sustain me, guide me, and deliver me through every situation by Your merciful and gracious hand.
Grant me wisdom to remember that my responsibility is to faithfully share the gospel; the work of transforming hearts belongs to You. Keep me from being swayed by results or discouraged by rejection. Give me the grace to move forward in obedience, trusting that You alone know the time and place when hearts will turn toward You.
May my life reflect surrender, trust, and faithful service as I walk in the authority and purpose You have given me.
