That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Prayer Root: Word to Prayer
Heavenly Father,
You are the Creator of the earth, the winds, the sea, the land, the sky, and every man in it. All creation bows before You, for You command even the storms and they obey. Lord, You are sovereign over all things—nature, life, and time itself.
The great storm on the sea reminds me of Your words that in this world there will be tribulation, but we must come to You, for You give us rest. You have already seen the turbulence and conquered it.
Lord, give me a heart like the disciples—one that turns to You in moments of fear and cries out. I pray that whenever storms arise in my life—whether in daily challenges, key milestones, or unexpected trials—I run to You first and seek Your deliverance.
And Lord, while I come to You in my weakness, I pray that my heart remains anchored in trust—confident that You are in control, even when the waves rise and the winds roar.
Bless my heart, Lord, to trust You fully—to rest in the assurance that You will calm every storm in Your perfect time and in Your perfect way.
